Prosciutto di Parma, or Parma Ham, has been made in Parma, Italy with the same artisanal meticulous process utilized centuries ago. It is the most popular fine Italian PDO prosciutto, which is appreciated by the top chefs and food enthusiasts all over the world. Asahi Agency has been promoting this excellent product in Japan since 2000, targeting both the trade industry and consumers to increase awareness and to differentiate the authentic Parma Ham from similar or competitive products.
Result:
Since the trade restrictions were lifted in 1996, the Japanese import of Parma Ham has continuously increased and reached its peak in 2006 with over 100,000 hams (657.5 tons), which was 6 times more than the volume of 1996.
